This live tooling spindle motor for an Emag vertical turning machine is a perfect example of a motor that can be upgraded with our Epox-E-Pak insulation.
Before that can happen the motor must be carefully disassembled, and the failed windings removed. Stripping the failed windings with the “burn-off” method favored by most motor “repair” shops risks damaging the laminated core, and increasing electrical losses. Endeavor Technologies removes the failed coils with a mechanical stripping method that ensures the integrity of the core laminations.
After rewinding the motor with class H insulation, the new winding is molded into a class H thermal-set epoxy resin that completely seals it from any contaminants that might penetrate the motor frame.
If the magnet rotor has failed, we’ll completely rebuild it with new magnets.
After dynamically balancing the rotor, and machining and grinding any failed bearing diameters the motor is assembled and the encoder aligned using hardware and software supplied by Heidenhain, the encoder manufacturer.
Finally the water jacket and thru-coolant tubes are pressure tested to ensure nothing leaks, and the motor is test run at full speed with a Siemens servo controller until the bearing temperatures stabilize.
Don’t trust the service of your SSB motor type FSDPI-0314.06080.00-HD to just any “repair” shop. The experts at Endeavor Technologies will completely rebuild it and upgrade it with Epox-E-Pak!
